Overview
Reverse Osmosis (RO) is the most effective membrane-based water purification technology, capable of removing up to 99%+ of dissolved salts, heavy metals, bacteria, viruses, and organic contaminants. It works by forcing water through a semi-permeable membrane under pressure, leaving contaminants behind in a concentrated reject stream. RO is the technology of choice for drinking water, pharmaceutical purified water, boiler feed water, and packaged drinking water production.

How It Works
Pre-filtration
Feed water passes through a 5-micron sediment filter to remove suspended particles, followed by an activated carbon filter to remove chlorine and organic compounds that can damage RO membranes.
Antiscalant Dosing
A chemical antiscalant is dosed into the feed water to prevent scaling of calcium carbonate, calcium sulphate, and silica on the membrane surface, extending membrane life.
High-Pressure Pumping
A high-pressure pump pressurises the pre-treated feed water to 8–16 bar, providing the driving force needed to push water molecules through the semi-permeable RO membrane.
Membrane Separation
Water molecules pass through the TFC membrane while dissolved salts, heavy metals, bacteria, and other contaminants are rejected and concentrated in the brine (reject) stream.
Post-treatment
Permeate (product water) may undergo pH correction, remineralisation, or UV disinfection depending on the application — drinking water, pharmaceutical, or industrial process water.
Auto-flush & CIP
Automatic flushing at shutdown removes concentrated brine from the membrane surface. Periodic CIP (Clean-In-Place) with acid or alkali restores membrane performance and extends service life.
