How It Works
Screening & Grit Removal
Bar screens and fine screens remove rags, plastics, and grit from incoming sewage to protect downstream equipment.
Primary Treatment
A primary clarifier or anaerobic tank removes settleable solids and reduces BOD load before biological treatment.
Biological Treatment
Aerobic biological processes (MBBR, SBR, or ASP) use microorganisms to break down dissolved organic matter, reducing BOD and COD to compliant levels.
Secondary Clarification
Treated water flows to a secondary clarifier where biological sludge settles. A portion is returned to the aeration tank; excess sludge is removed for disposal.
Tertiary Treatment
Sand filtration, activated carbon filtration, and UV/chlorine disinfection polish the treated water to reuse quality — suitable for flushing, gardening, or cooling.
Sludge Management
Settled sludge is thickened and dewatered using drying beds or a filter press. Dried sludge can be used as soil conditioner or disposed of as per CPCB norms.
